About the Chef...

Culinary Consultant and Executive Chef, Donna Marie Desfor, has been studying the culinary arts since she began her career as a lawyer in Philadelphia.  By the late '90s and her move to Central Pennsylvania, she was combining her love for world travel with her interest in food and fine wine.  While she continued working as a lawyer, she was accepted into L'ecole de Chefs, and traveled to South Africa’s Paarl wine valley where she trained in contemporary French cuisine with Master Chef Frank Zlomke at the #1 rated Bosmans Restaurant.  Committed to improving her skills and devoted to her passion for understanding food, flavor and the elements of taste, she continued her education by attending cooking classes with Susan Herrmann Loomis in Normandy, France and developed a rigorous program of self-study.  Interested in developing her knowledge of wine, she traveled to the Chilean countryside learning New World wines while writing an article for the internationally acclaimed Montes winery.

A published food writer and recipe developer, she has trained and worked with such culinary notables as Susan Herrmann Loomis and David Leite.  The original Executive Chef for Gastronomic Meditations, now The Gilded Fork, Chef Donna (Zotter) Desfor created original recipes and articles for the site and its Entertaining Survival Guide, published by GF in December, 2005. 

She appears on CBS-TV in the greater Harrisburg region, and has been featured in the Harrisburg Patriot-News, and Central PA Magazine.  She authored Seriously Good (Dairy-free, Egg-free and Nut-free) Food, a personal collection of recipes that she created to help her family adapt to cooking and eating for severe food allergies.  A portion of each sale is donated to the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network. 

Committed to sharing her love for food and wine and her skills for creating delicious food in any home setting, she launched There's a Chef in My Kitchen, LLC as a portable culinary institute.  From classroom-type curriculums and hands-on training, to haute cuisine dinner parties and guided wine or food tastings, Chef Donna Marie Desfor will help you learn how to effortlessly create delicious food and experience the pleasures of eating well.
